A news report from Korea is suggesting that Samsung will have two major announcements in the first quarter of 2019. Apparently, the Samsung Galaxy S10 is set to be launched in January, while the foldable Galaxy X will be featured at MWC 2019 in Barcelona.
Suppliers have been instructed to start on Galaxy X by November this year, indicating that the company has completed or close to completing the R&D phase. The code name for the phone has also been changed from “Valley” to “Winner” which might indicate the project has moved beyond development at this point.
For the Samsung Galaxy S10, the same report states that the company is planning to push the launch date to an earlier date. January is the reported new launch date for the S10, putting it less than one year since the launch of the S9. This is done so that the Galaxy X can be the centrepiece for Samsung’s MWC 2019 plans.
Samsung looks to be pushing for big things next year. We may see interesting phone designs by the time MWC 2019 rolls by from not only Samsung but other manufacturers as well.
