You might have noticed it when you opened your Twitter app today but for those who is not aware of it yet, the social media company has revealed that it has encountered a security-related issue on its platform recently. Hence, it is now asking users to consider changing their Twitter password immediately.
In a post by its CTO Parag Agrawal, the company found a bug that allows its system to capture users’ raw passwords into an internal log before their masking process is completed. Twitter claimed that the error was discovered internally and has subsequently removed the unmasked password immediately as part of the bug fix.
While Twitter believes that the passwords remained safe and were not leaked outside of their system, the company still recommends users to change their password as soon as possible. It also advises users to consider adopting login verification to make their Twitter account more secure.
