HMD Global has announced that the Nokia 3 will be seeing the Android Oreo update from today onwards. This represents the last of the Nokia line to be upgraded to Android 8.0, bringing all the devices up to date.
The Nokia 3 was originally announced at Mobile World Congress 2017, with the phone arriving in Malaysia three months later. At the time, HMD Global promised that the phones would receive Android updates to keep them in line with the most recent releases; that seems to be the case.
That in mind, the Nokia 3 is only seeing the Android 8.0 update; and update schedule of the other phones in the series seems to indicate that there an Android 8.1 is in the works.
Google is also set to announce the next Android operating system at the Google I/O developer conference next week. The expected Android P will introduce even more security and privacy settings, but it may be quite a long time before HMD Global will be updating its device family.
