A company called Incline Dynamic Outlet (IDO) in San Francisco have created what it claims the “the world’s fastest purpose-built camera car“. To do it, the company mounted a RED Helium 8K camera to the front of a Lamborghini Huracan.
Capable of accelerating from 0-100KM/h in just 3.2 seconds, the Huracan is one of the fastest sportscars in the market currently. Over a course of ‘many months’, IDO fitted the Huracan with a bespoke stabilised camera system built by Gyro-Stabilized Systems (GSS) on the front of the car.
The RED Helium 8K Camera in the GSS pod features an interchangeable lens system. RED cameras are often used in film production, and with the Huracam, stabilised high-speed chase in super high definition footage can be recorded without the need for one-off rigs.
The total cost of the rig is quoted at US$800,000 (RM 3,137,000) including the car, the gimbal system and the camera. The team is now partnering with Sharp Electronics for its first project.
