A recent report stated that iflix is currently working on a new update for its on-demand and live video streaming service. This update which is dubbed as iflix 3.0 will apparently bring a new subscription tier to users.
Specifically, the new subscription tier will allow users to enjoy the service for free. However, the free subscription will be partially supported by advertisement. Other than that, the iflix 3.0 will also feature a live hub that offers local free-to-air and pay-TV channels alongside live sporting events such as cricket, World Cup, Olympic Games, and NBA in addition to Malaysian football which is already in place starting from this season onwards.
Additionally, the company will also be adding other types of live events such as concerts and competitions into its roster soon as well. Not to forget, there will also be premium short-form contents with many of them to be produced by iflix’s newly launched in-house production company Studio 2:15.
As interesting as this news might be, iflix didn’t reveal any launch timeline for the new update. We’ll keep you posted once we heard more from the company.
