PayPal has announced that it is now rolling out the ability to use it as a payment option while using Samsung Pay. The partnership was originally announced back in July 2017, but is only now being pushed to consumers.
Activating PayPal as an option isn’t too different from adding any other payment card. Following the same procedure without including any additional steps for payment.
PayPal’s announcement also informs users that their payment details will not actually be transmitted over Samsung Pay. Instead, it uses a tokenisation system that creates a virtual account for the fund transfer whenever a payment is requested. Allowing users to maintain their privacy and preventing merchants from collecting too much information.
Samsung Pay is one of the more interesting virtual wallets available. Mostly due to the technology on Samsung’s flagship smartphones that allow them to interact with traditional magnetic stripe readers. Which generally means it works with places where other virtual wallets may not.
