Late last week, Apple has kicked off a battery replacement program for the 13-inch MacBook Pro variant that does not come with Touch Bar. It seems that the issue is affecting Apple customers throughout the world since customers in Malaysia are included in the program as well.
Even though Apple stated that this program is not due to safety reason, affected units which were manufactured between October 2016 to October 2017 contain a component that could fail and caused their built-in battery to expend. Fret not though, the company will be replacing those batteries for free.
In order to find out if your non-Touch Bar 13-inch MacBook Pro is affected or otherwise, just enter the serial number of your unit on the official website that Apple has set up for the program. If you unit is eligible for battery exchange, you will have to bring it to Apple Authorized Service Provider in order to get the battery replaced.
Do plan ahead though as Apple has noted that the service might take around 3 to 5 days to be completed. For further information, head on to Apple’s official website right here.
