Recent reports have emerged regarding AMD’s upcoming motherboard chipset called the “Z490.” Sources have suggested that the AMD’s Z490 will be somewhat better compared to the recently released X470 chipset. This rumour was apparently came from folks at VideoCardz, who obtained an alleged Gigabyte Aorus X470 motherboard slide.
According to the leaked slide, the AMD Z490 chipset will feature almost similar specifications as the X470 chipset. The one major difference between the two, is the fact that the Z490 chipset will come with four additional PCIe 3.0 lanes. There may be more features of the Z490 that weren’t detailed on the leaked slide – we’ll just have to wait for AMD’s official announcement for that.
Speaking of which, there’s no indication as to when AMD will officially release the Z490 chipset and when we’ll actually get to see motherboard manufacturers release their Z490 mainboards. Either way, it’ll be interesting to see just how AMD will market the Z490 chipset, especially given the recent release of the X470.
Regardless, as with any other rumour we’ve written so far, we do suggest our dear readers to take this one with a grain of salt, for now. We’ll be sure to keep you updated should there be any updates to this.
