Huawei has completed the beta test for EMUI 8.0 on the Nova 2i, and is now rolling the update out to Malaysians. Based on the Android 8.0 Oreo, this new update brings mid-range Nova 2i in line with the rest of Huawei’s offering that also feature the operating system.
Admittedly, this is somewhat late in the Android Oreo lifecycle to be receiving the update, seeing that the developer preview for Android P is currently in full swing. Then again, at least Huawei is still working on getting the promise OS upgrades to its portfolio of devices.
The Nova 2i was originally announced to give consumers a lower budget 18:9 aspect ratio smartphone. While this feature no longer makes the phone unique, it was the first to offer the option all the way back in September 2017.
Like most software updates, EMUI 8.0 on the Nova 2i is rolling out in stages. As always, users are advised to update to the latest OS for security reasons.
