A report has emerged which claimed that Xiaomi might be considering to purchase the famed action camera maker, GoPro. This is seen by many as a positive news as GoPro has been struggling to keep itself ahead in the market lately.
It is already known for quite a while that GoPro is looking for new partners that could help stabilize and grow the company further. Earlier this year, it was reported that that it has hired JP Morgan Chase to advise the right value for a potential sale.
While GoPro’s CEO Nick Woodman has confirmed that the company has indeed engaged with JP Morgan, he denied that it was being done in order to assist the sale of the company. As it goes, GoPro is currently valued at around USD 761 million (about RM 2.95 billion).
For the time being, this acquisition will remain as a rumor until it is officially addressed by both companies. Nevertheless, we have to say that the market dynamics will most likely be affected if Xiaomi decides to splurge its cash in order to have GoPro under its wing.
