AMD’s official site already has a listing for its upcoming GPU series, the Radeon RX 500X series. The naming convention comes as a surprise, especially since many of us were expecting it to use the Radeon RX 600 nomenclature.
Besides the listing, information about the new Radeon GPU series is scarce. However, discussions on Reddit are saying that any Radeon cards released under the new generation would be using a further improved variant of the current Polaris GPU architecture. Also, if AMD’s habits are anything to go by with its RX 400 and current RX 500 series, the new RX 500X GPUs may only see a performance increase between five and six percent over its predecessor.
Of course, this is all just speculation and heresay until AMD makes an official announcement, so it’s best to take this with a pinch of salt. That said, there’s a possibility that AMD might make the announcement during COMPUTEX in Taiwan this year.
