It looks like Google might possibly be working on a new Chromebook that sports a 4K display. The rumour popped up after a member of Reddit and XDA Developers community discovered a device codenamed Atlas while messing around with Chromium OS source code.
According to reports, Atlas will possess a 4K display with a 16:9 aspect ratio. Further information within the source code also suggests that the yet-to-be-announced Chromebook won’t even come with a SD card slot.
This bit of information actually gives some insight to the device; for a start, it’s very unlikely that it will have a display size smaller than 15″. It is also possible that Atlas will be targeted towards fans who wish to enjoy 4K video content on a Chromebook.
Sadly, information on Atlas was scarce, and besides the mention of it (possibly) having a 4K display, the source code barely mentioned anything else. On that note, Google’s annual I/O event is happening next month, so maybe we’ll hear something from Sundar Picai about it then.
