As soon as Intel officially unveiled its new Coffee Lake-H series processors earlier today, Acer has also announced that some of those CPUs will be powering its Nitro 5 gaming laptop as well. It is an interesting move by the company as most of us here are anticipating for the official announcement of the leaked Predator Helios 500.
This particular Nitro 5 gaming laptop is not a new model as it was actually introduced few months ago at CES 2018. However, the specifications for the laptop at that time were AMD Ryzen Mobile APUs and AMD Radeon RX560 graphics.
For the Intel-based model, it can be obtained with up to 8th Gen Intel Core i7 processor. Users are apparently able to purchase the laptop with Intel Optane Memory pre-installed in it which will be indicated by the newly introduced Intel Core i7+ label.
Additionally, Acer also stated that the Intel-based Nitro 5 comes with up to NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti graphics and Intel Wireless-AC 9560 802.11ac network adapter. Just like the AMD-based variant, the model is also equipped with 15-inch full HD IPS display and able to support up to 32GB of RAM as well as 512GB solid state drive.
In terms of general global availability, the Intel-based Nitro 5 will be released starting from May onwards which is one month later than the AMD-based variant. We have yet to receive the pricing for the laptop in Malaysia although we expect it to be made available in our market soon enough just like the AMD-based Nitro 5.
