Rumour has it that Samsung is currently working on what could possibly be the Gear S4, the follow-up to the company’s current Gear S3 that was launched back in 2016. The news popped up after Martin Reinders, co-founder of SamMobile revealed in a Facebook Live session that the Korean electronics giant was already underway with the development of a brand new smartwatch.
The device is reportedly codenamed Galileo and bears the mode number SM-R800. Reinders himself also vaguely revealed that the Gear S4 could see a release sometime during the fourth quarter of this year.
On the feature side of things, Reinders says that the phone will be come with improved health and fitness features via S Health. It will also offer more in-depth sleep tracking technology.
To date, there hasn’t been a proper successor to the Gear S3. The Gear Sport itself wasn’t so much a successor, but rather a cross between the Gear S3 Frontier and Classic, but with a greater focus on health and fitness features. At the time of writing, no official launch date or pricing was made.
