The Acer Predator gaming series might be receiving a new member next week as a model called Predator Helios 500 has been listed by a retailer in Poland. Yes, your eyes are not deceiving you: the laptop will apparently be made available with up to Intel Core i9 processor.
Based on the rumors that have been going online for quite some time, the new Core i9-8950HK processor is part of the upcoming Coffee Lake-H mobile CPU family which is expected to be announced by Intel very soon. Prior to this, Core i9 processors were only available for desktop PCs under the Core-X series.
According to the leak, the gaming laptop will also be made available with the equally new but lower-end Core i7-8750H processor. Other than that, the Helios 500 also feature a 17.3-inch full HD 144Hz IPD display, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070, 16GB DDR4 RAM, 256GB M.2 solid state drive, and RGB keyboard.
The Polish retailer has also listed the Core i7 model at PLN 8999 (about RM 10178) while the Core i9 goes for PLN 11999 (about RM 13571). While these prices might be rather hefty but not exactly surprising though given that we are looking at a 17-inch gaming laptop.
If the rumors are correct, we should be hearing official announcement of Predator Helios 500 as well as tons of other laptops with Coffee Lake-H processors next week. It should be a fun time for those have planned to get their hands on gaming laptops soon.
