The servers for Under Armour’s MyFitnessPal tracking app have been compromised, leaving some 150 million accounts affected by the breach. It would appear that the amount of information stolen is minimal; although the company willingly made the announcement to inform its users.
Under Armour was first informed of a breach of its systems on 25 March, although the intrusion appears to have happened at some point in February 2018. Thus far, only usernames, emails, and hashed passwords have been stolen; with no other identifying information available on those servers.
The company also says that no credit card information was stolen. As the data is processed on a different server.
While this is a minor intrusion, MyFitnessPal users are being advised to change their passwords. Especially since people have a tendency to reuse passwords across multiple accounts.
