Still remember the Mi AI Speaker that Xiaomi launched last year? Well, the company has launched another new model in the form of Mi AI Speaker Mini at its launch event in Shanghai today which also saw the official unveiling of Mi Mix 2S and Mi Gaming Laptop.

The general idea of Mi AI Speaker Mini is still the same as per its full-size older sibling which is to deliver voice-controlled, AI-powered digital personal assistance experience although with a much smaller footprint. At the same time, the speaker also can be used to control the vast number of products under Xiaomi’s smart home line-up.

Just like the original Mi AI Speaker, the Mini version is also equipped with a microphone array although the number of microphones in the array was reduced to four instead of six as per the original model. In addition to Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, the speaker also features audio beam forming technology so that it able to listen and recognize users voice commands even in a noisy environment.

Price-wise, the Mi AI Speaker Mini will be made available with a price tag of CNY 169 (about RM 105). However, its release date is not known at the moment even for Xiaomi’s own home market of China.
