Acer has announced the Chromebook Tab 10 – world’s first tablet running Chrome OS. This looks to be an extension of its current line-up of Chrome OS devices, designed with the education sector in mind.

The Acer Chromebook Tab 10 is a full touchscreen device, paired with a Wacom stylus that can be stored on board in a silo. It comes with a 9.7-inch screen with a 2048×1536 pixel IPS display, a hexacore processor, 4GB of LPDDR3 RAM, 32GB onboard storage with microSD expansion, USB 3.1 Type-C port, 5MP/2MP rear/front camera combo and a 34 Watt/hour battery that on paper can last up to nine hours.

What makes this tablet stand out apart from the OS option is the ability to run Android apps; it is one of the few Chrome OS devices on the market with full access to the Android Play Store. This will be beneficial to apps developers and consumers as they can re-use their apps previously purchased on this tablet with no problem.

Acer is set to market the Chromebook Tab 10 in the US from April and EMEA from May onward. Sticker price in the US will be US$329 (RM1350), which is decent for a tablet its size.
