Officially announced back at MWC 2018, the Sony Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact are set to be available for pre-order as early as next week in Malaysia. Considering the fact that these phones were only introduced globally a couple of weeks ago, this is a very timely launch.
Our source told us that Sony Mobile Malaysia is planning to open pre-orders for the Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact by the end of next week. Unfortunately, the local retail prices of these devices are not known yet, although there’s a chance they will be priced similarly to their predecessors.
In terms of specification, both the Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact come with 5.7-inch and 5-inch 18:9 Full HD+ displays respectively, Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 845 chipset paired with 4GB of RAM, 64GB of expandable storage, IP65/68 ratings, dual front-facing speakers, and Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box. Naturally, they have different battery capacities: 3,180mAh on the XZ2, and 2,870mAh on the Compact.
Aside from that, both phones also sport identical 19MP rear cameras, which can now record 960fps slow motion videos in 1080p instead of only 720p. Their front-facing cameras, on the other hand, are 5MP shooters.
The Sony Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact are expected to be officially launched in Malaysia next week. We should learn more about the pre-order details for these two phones then.
