At Sony’s regional launch of its latest Bravia TV lineup in Singapore, the Japanese company revealed that the flagship Bravia A8F OLED 4K HDR TV will be arriving in Malaysia sometime in May 2018.
Introduced back at CES 2018, the Bravia A8F is the followup to Sony’s well-loved Bravia A1 OLED TV. In comparison to its predecessor, the A8F isn’t drastically different – the most noticeable change lies in design. Instead of the A1’s angled stand, the A8F features a more traditional stand. It still sports Sony’s “One Slate” design, of course.
Design aside, the A8F also comes with the very same 4K HDR Processor X1 Extreme found in the A1, which provides object-based HDR remaster, Super Bit Mapping, and dual database processing. Sony’s Acoustic Surface technology is available on the A8F too – audio is delivered from the TV’s screen itself.
Other specifications of the A8F include support for HDR 10, Hybrid Log-Gamma, and Dolby Vision. Like with most of Sony’s high-end TVs, the A8F runs on Android TV too.
Besides the A8F, there is also the more affordable Bravia X90F. While it has the same X1 Extreme processor as the A8F, the X90F isn’t an OLED TV – it’s a more “conventional” 4K HDR TV with an LCD panel. However, the X90F does come with X-Motion Clarity, which promises improved motion fluidity. Much like the A8F, the X90F also supports a range of HDR standards, including Hybrid Log-Gamma, HDR 10, and Dolby Vision.
The flagship Sony Bravia A8F OLED TV will be available in Malaysia sometime in May 2018. As for the X90F, it’s set to land here as early as next month in April 2018. Naturally, the local retail prices of these high-end TVs have not been revealed yet, but expect to pay a premium for them.
