Waze has introduced the feature that allows users to prominently pin their favourite brands to the navigation screen. Simply called ‘Favourite Brands’, it’s mainly designed for advertisers to gain more visibility on the navigation app.
The idea behind the feature is that it will allow users to designate particular store chains (like specific brands of petrol stations, fastfood outlets, or supermarkets) to appear on the map. Making it easier to locate those places while on the road.
At the moment, there is only one brand available to be favourited in Malaysia: Petron. It’s uncertain how long before other brands get on board with the platform, but it shouldn’t be too long before Waze is populated with numerous advertisers.
Fortunately for those looking to avoid ads, this feature is designed for people to opt-in. Which means that people will only see brands that they want to see.
Waze had originally introduced Favourite Brands way back at the end of 2016; starting with Dunkin’ Donuts in the US. It appears to have taken a while, but the company has eventually brought it all the way over here.
