Source code from the upcoming Shadow of the Tomb Raider website, has revealed that the game will be launching this year. Specifically, the exact launch date stated in the source code was 14 September 2018; with additional information about preorders also present in the slip up.
The leak came as Square Enix’s official Tomb Raider page started displaying a ‘waning crescent moon’, along with the date and time 15 March 2018, 9AM ET (9PM for us). Suffice to say, that’s when the video games developer and publisher will reveal something about the game.
Besides its release date, the source code also reveals more major details, such as the countries that Lara’s quest will take her to, and that the upcoming title will be the “climatic finale of Lara’s origin story.”
Further information inside the source code also states that Square Enix will be announcing preorder incentives and SKUs on 27 April 2018; approximately a month after the launch trailer. It also looks like the game will be appearing on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Sadly, it seems that the Nintendo Switch is not included in the list. On that note, here’s to hoping that Square Enix doesn’t make it a timed exclusive like they did with Rise of the Tomb Raider.
