Two videos have appeared online teasing the capabilities of the upcoming Huawei P20 series. One focuses on the zoom capabilities of the flagship device, while the other highlights ability to take studio-level photos.
The tagline “See Closer” in the first video hints at a long zoom capability on the triple-lens P20 Pro. Upon closer inspection, the lens looks to have a zoom range of 27 – 80mm, which is roughly 3x zoom. This will be the first Huawei phone with a zoom capability, as well as the first smartphone with 3x zoom (discounting models such as the Samsung K-Zoom).

The second video meanwhile features the tagline “See Brighter”. Huawei already pushed the studio-quality portrait images with last year’s P10. With the P20, we may see a logical progression on that, as it states “a light studio in the palm of your hand… for a portrait that radiates” in the video description on Youtube. This may hint to better portrait mode and portrait lighting, copying Apple’s Portrait Mode.

It is less than two weeks away to the official launch of the P20 series in Paris, slated to be on March 27. We suspect more information on the new camera modes will appear closer we are to the official launch event.
