iFixit recently put the Samsung Galaxy S9 under the knife to see how difficult it was to repair the phone. The verdict? It was actually more difficult to repair than the iPhone X which iFixit already reported to be a difficult phone to repair.
Specifically, iFixit gave the phone a score of 4 out of 10 on its repairability. In comparison, the iPhone X scored a 6. The teardown report says that the Galaxy S9’s glass back makes it effectively twice as prone to cracks, while the glue used to hold the back of phone in place makes it difficult to open the phone.
Despite its low score, however, iFixit did mention that the phone was easier to repair once all the glue has been removed, and that most of the components in the Galaxy S9 are modular, which makes replacing individual components much easier.
