Acer has found that it has achieved positive revenue growth for the first time in years. And it is all thanks to gamers.
Acer’s attempt to focus more on the gaming segment has resulted in a positive impact on the company. It was only in 2016 when Acer introduced its lineup of Predator branded devices that emphasize on PC gaming. Acer’s bet on gaming turned out to be fruitful as just in two years the lineup manages to increase Acer’s revenue amidst fallen worldwide PC sales. Revenue brought in by Acer’s gaming devices rose between 13% and 15% according to Bloomberg.
The PC gaming sector is pretty competitive. There are tough competition from other manufacturers, such as Asus, Dell’s Alienware, Razer and also MSI. In spite of that, Acer managed to stands out because of its own effort in offering devices that are both valuable in terms of price and performance.
Overall, gaming is definitely a safe bet for PC manufacturers these days. As the eSports gaming and its community are growing, it will help drive gaming peripherals’ sales to increase. On top of that, with the recent shortage and also price hike of video cards due to crypto mining, consumers will flock out to out of the box gaming machines instead of building it from scratch.
Acer was once the biggest manufacturer of Windows computers. Acer CEO mentioned the growth in premium gaming devices will not let Acer to completely forgo its traditional devices of business and affordable laptops.
