The Samsung PM1643 30.72TB may be the highest capacity SSD to appear on the market so far. That said, the 2.5-inch form factor storage device is obviously not meant for the consumer market.
Samsung says that the Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) drive offers sequential read and write speeds of up to 2,100MB/s and 1,700 MB/s. That is roughly four times the speed of a top-end consumer SSD available in the market currently.
The storage itself is comprised of 32 sticks of 1TB NAND packages, with each package containing 16 layers of 512Gb V-NAND chips. Samsung is confident of the reliability and performance that the company is offering a five-year warranty with each purchase.
Samsung has not revealed a pricing structure for the PM1643, but will also be offering more storage drives ranging from 16.36TB to 800GB in the near future as well.
