Huawei isn’t expected to launch its next P-series smartphones at MWC 2018 – that’s only happening next month in Paris – but it appears the Chinese company will still be launching at least one new product at the tech convention. Chances are, Huawei will introduce a new MateBook later this month.
On its social media platforms, Huawei posted a teaser for its MWC 2018 event, and it’s pretty clear that the company is teasing the launch of a new laptop. In fact, looking closer at the teaser, there’s a very good chance the new notebook will be a followup to the MateBook X.

Launched just last year, the MateBook X is quite an impressive, compact laptop. It features a 13-inch 2160 x 1440 IPS display, an Intel Core i5-7200U or i7-7500U processor paired with up to 8GB of RAM, two SSD storage options (256GB or 512GB), and a chassis that’s only 12.5mm thin.
Although there are practically no information on what the new MateBook would bring to the table, it will highly likely come with a more impressive display than its predecessor – assuming it’s a followup to the MateBook X. After all, the teaser does focus on offering a “different perspective,” which may be hinting at a new display of some sort – perhaps even a panel with very minimal bezels.
Huawei will hold its MWC 2018 event later this month on 25 February. We’ll find out then if it is indeed a successor to the MateBook X.
