Truly wireless earbuds are becoming increasingly common, and it appears Sony will be bringing in its own offering in the near future. Dubbed the WF-SP700N, these wireless earbuds are Sony’s first noise-cancelling earphones that are also splash-resistant.
As we were going through SIRIM’s database, we found that the WF-SP700N is registered under Sony Malaysia just today. Electronic devices need to be registered with the certification body before they are officially sold here, so chances are, Sony is planning to launch the wireless earbuds on our shores.
What makes the WF-SP700N a particularly interesting pair of wireless earbuds is the fact that it features noise cancellation. However, it’s only digital noise cancellation instead of an active one, but it’s a notable feature nonetheless. On top of that, these earbuds also come with Ambient Sound mode, which lets users hear the outside world while they’re wearing the earbuds.
Other specifications of the wireless earbuds include IPX4 rating – effectively making them splash- and water-resistant – three hours of battery life on a single charge (the case holds two additional charges), and Google Assistant integration, which will be added in a future update.
The WF-SP700N wireless earbuds are expected to be available to consumers sometime in Spring 2018. In the US, it’s set to retail at $179.99, which comes up to about RM705. Hopefully, the WF-SP700N will be launched here in Malaysia in the near future.
