With less than a month to Mobile World Congress 2018 more leaks of upcoming phones starting to appear on the internet. One of which is an unnamed model under the ASUS ZenFone 5 family. While it has a premium design, the internals are anything but.
A stand out feature of the images shared by Roland Quandt a.k.a @rquandt is the dual camera module at the back. While this is not ASUS’s first dual camera phone (that belongs to the ASUS ZenFone 4 series), the arrangement of the module is new. It is now set vertically instead on a horizontal axis. Plus it seems that there will be a minor camera bump instead of the camera being flush with the body.
The front looks very modern thanks to the 18:9 display; expected to measure around 5.7”. The microUSB connector indicates that this is a mid to lower end smartphone rather than a flagship. Quandt also says that ASUS may be using the Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 System on a Chip (SoC) to power this device; so we expect an affordable price tag once this model is announced in Barcelona.
ASUS is also set have a launch event on 27 February with several announcements expected to be made at the event. The hashtags #backto5 and #WeLovePhoto are displayed prominently on the invite sent to the media. This dual camera device may be one of the devices set to launch during the event.
It is just three weeks to go before MWC 2018; so be for the lookout on more leaks on upcoming ASUS ZenFone models.
