It has come to our knowledge that ASUS is planning to rebrand its entry-level gaming laptop series using the TUF Gaming moniker. Based on initial information provided by our industry sources, the new branding will incorporate the company’s existing FX series.
The TUF Gaming branding is not new though for those who kept track of ASUS product’s history. Originally used for motherboards that are designed for durability, the company has decided to reassign the branding for entry-level gaming-oriented motherboards starting from last year with Z370-based products for 8th Gen Intel Core processors.
Despite being entry-level series, ASUS is planning to provide the upcoming TUF Gaming laptops with some premium options including 120Hz display, independently-cooled CPU and GPU setup through dual fans implementation, fan overboost function, anti-dust cooling system, and DTS Headphone: X audio enhancements.
As for other components, ASUS is apparently planning to equip its upcoming TUF Gaming laptops with 8th Gen Intel Core H-series processors alongside NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 or GTX 1050 Ti graphics cards. Unfortunately for AMD fans, no mention of Ryzen processors or AMD Radeon graphics card in the plan according to our sources.
In terms of launch date, our sources stated that there is no set date at the moment but ASUS is apparently aiming to have the new TUF Gaming laptop ready for the market in late Q1 2018. Well then, we shall see how accurate the descriptions above will be in just few months’ time.
