AMD has recently announced the appointment of Mike Rayfield and David Wang to lead the company’s graphics division, Radeon. Mike Rayfield will be appointed as the senior vice president and general manager of Radeon Technologies Group (RTG), while David Wang will take up the position of senior vice president of engineering RTG.
AMD’ current president, Lisa Su, stated that “Mike and David are industry leaders who bring proven track records of delivering profitable business growtch and leadership product roadmaps.” For those who may not be aware, Mike Rayfield was a former senior vice president and general manager of the Mobile Business Unit at Micron Technology.
Meanwhile, David Wang joins AMD from Synaptics, where he was formerly a senior vice president of Systems Silicon Engineering. Prior to that, Wang had earlier joined AMD as the corporate vice president, where he was responsible for overseeing the development of AMD’s processor products like GPUs, CPUs, and APUs.
Hopefully, with the appointment of both Mike Rayfield and David Wang, Radeon Technologies Group will be able to mimic the success that its parent company, AMD is currently facing with its Ryzen family of processors. We look forward to seeing what AMD and Radeon has in store for consumers in 2018.
