Google is now selling audiobooks through the Google Play store. Like all its services, these audiobooks are integrated with the Google Assistant; allowing people to start – or continue – listening to their favourite books without having to touch the smartphone.
There is no subscription service for Google’s audiobooks, and customers are free to just buy whatever they feel like listening to. Short previews are available for those who would like to get an idea of what the narrator sounds like. Admittedly, these books are not cheap; and being able to hear what they sound like will help customers make an educated choice.
Listeners can also resume playing their audiobooks across devices using the same Google account. This applies across platforms like Android, iOS, and the desktop browser.
Google Play audiobooks is now available in 45 countries, with Malaysia being among the number. Which is something relatively surprising, as we are rarely among the first countries to see anything from Google.
