Microsoft today has officially announced that its Surface Book 2 is coming to Malaysia later this year. The inclusion of our country into the list is part of the market expansion for the detachable laptop which was originally announced to the world last October.
However, the exact launch date of Surface Book 2 in Malaysia is not yet known at the moment. That being said, the announcement has hinted that it might take place between February and April of this year.
Available in two different sizes, the 15-inch variant is powered by 8th Gen Intel Core i7 and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 with 6GB GDDR5 VRAM. On another hand, the Core i7 version of the 13.5-inch Surface Book 2 comes with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 2GB while the Core i5 model carries no discrete GPU.
Since we are at least few weeks or months away from its release in Malaysia, the local pricing for Surface Book 2 is not yet known at the moment. As reference though, the lowest-end Surface Book 2 is priced at USD 1,499 (about RM 5,934) in United States while the most specced out model goes for USD 3,299 (about RM 13,059).
Hence, it is rather clear that the Surface Book 2 belongs to the premium segment of the market. Nevertheless, we’ll keep you updated once we hear more from Microsoft Malaysia.
