While Razer created a storm at CES 2018 by unveiling Project Linda which was essentially a concept laptop shell for Razer Phone, the company has also presented another new product at the event. Made for daily enjoyment regardless of gaming, music, or movies, the new offering comes in the form of a stereo speaker series called Nommo.
According to Razer, the new speakers series is designed to deliver full range audio output alongside accurate position awareness through the implementation of true left and right stereo imaging. In general, Razer has crafted three different models under its new Nommo speaker series although they do share the same cylindrical design for their satellite speakers.
Equipped with a 3-inch driver that is made from glass fiber, each of Nommo speaker also come with rear-firing bass port. There is also a set of volume and bass control knobs on the base of the right satellite speaker that works together with the automatic gain control feature that Razer has implemented into Nommo in order to ensure clean and even bass output.
For users that can’t live without RGB lights, they can opt for the Nommo Chroma instead which comes with the famed Razer Chroma lighting alongside USB connectivity and built-in DAC. Users can also choose to get their hands on the higher-end Nommo Pro THX-certified speakers which not only come with Chroma lighting but also features a different setup and extended capabilities.
For example, the Nommo Pro features a 2.1 setup instead of 2.0 arrangement as per Nommo and Nommo Chroma since it comes with a dedicated downward-firing subwoofer. Enhanced by Dolby Virtual Surround Sound technology, the satellite speakers for Nommo Pro are also different from their lower-end counterparts since they are equipped with 3-inch drivers coated with Dupont Kevlar fiber alongside 0.8-inch silk-woven tweeters.
Furthermore, users are able to utilize Nommo Pro in so many ways including optical connector, 3.5mm audio jack, USB, and even Bluetooth. The 2.1 speaker system also comes with a dedicated control pod and its own mobile app although users can still set the system’s EQ and bass levels through Razer Synapse.
In terms of availability, the Nommo and Nommo Chroma are readily available for Malaysian consumers through Razer’s online store for RM 529 and RM 799 respectively. Expect both speakers to appear at local retails store very soon although the release date and Malaysian pricing for the Nommo Pro is not yet known at the moment.
