vivo’s first smartphone with Synaptic’s in-display fingerprint scanner has been certified by TENAA under the model name vivo X20 UD. From the looks of it, vivo is interested in beating the more illustrious competition to deploying the technology.
The vivo X20 UD shares some similarities with the vivo X20 Plus. It has a 6.43-inch 18:9 display with a 2160 x 1080 pixel resolution. An AMOLED panel is being used; a necessity for getting the Synaptic sensor to work. The gaps in between the pixels allows the sensor to read the crests and valleys of the fingerprint and unlock the phone.
Other specifications includes a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660, 4GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage. Imaging is handled by a dual camera setup on the back; sporting a 12MP f/1.8 primary shooter and a 5MP secondary camera. The selfie unit is a 12MP f/2.0 shooter. Everything will be powered via a large 3,800mAh battery.
Pricing is still up in the air, but the vivo X20 Plus is priced at 3,498 yuan (approximately RM2,220) in its native country of China. We will just have to wait and see when or if vivo Malaysia will bring this model into the Malaysian market.
