Previously available only on the OnePlus 5T – and it was eventually implemented on the OnePlus 5 too – the company’s Face Unlock feature is coming to the OnePlus 3 and 3T as well. It’s great to see that OnePlus is bringing the feature to these 2016 flagship phones.
The co-founder of OnePlus, Carl Pei, confirmed this in an interview with CNET. According to Pei, the Face Unlock feature will be rolled out to the OnePlus 3 and 3T in a future beta update. “There’s no reason to withhold features we can easily implement,” Pei told CNET.
Considering the fact that the OnePlus 3 and 3T do not have the same camera systems as the OnePlus 5 and 5T, it’ll certainly be interesting to see how the Face Unlock feature will perform on these older flagship phones. Chances are, it should be pretty good – OnePlus is known for its excellent software experience, after all.
Although the OnePlus 3 and 3T will not be updated beyond Android 8.0 Oreo, we imagine the Face Unlock feature will be appreciated still.
