Evan Blass has leaked new information on HTC’s upcoming smartphone, the HTC U11 EYE. In a nutshell, it is the HTC U11+ with a mid-range processor.
It’s not precisely a copy of the U11+ according to the leak. The display is dropped from 2880 x 1440 to 2160 x 1080 pixels, and there is only 4GB RAM (the U11+ had an option for 6GB). The processor inside is also a lower-tier option – a Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 rather than the Snapdragon 835.

It will have a 6-inch screen, a large 3930mAh battery and Edge Sense on its sides. Water and dust resistance is rated at IP67, which makes it about splash resistant. The smartphone will share the USB Type-C port between data, power and headphones; like the U11+ did. Android Nougat is available out of the box instead of Oreo.
A post on HTC’s official Weibo account confirms the phone is launching on January 15. The rumoured price for the HTC U11 EYE will be CNY 3,300 (RM2,207) which is within the expected price range. It will come in three colours (Black, Silver and Red) and is said to be available initially in China, Hong Kong and Taiwan.
