When Intel announced its brand-new 8th Gen Core G-series processor earlier this week which features AMD Radeon RX Vega M graphics, the company mentioned that the chip will appear in new 2-in-1 laptops from two manufacturers including Dell. One of the laptops turns out to be the XPS 15 2-in-1 which has just been officially unveiled by Dell at CES 2018.
However, the well-known OEM didn’t reveal the full specifications of the laptop in its media announcement. Nevertheless, Dell is quite confident with the ability of the laptop as it claimed that the XPS 15 2-in-1 is the smallest, thinnest, and most powerful 15-inch 2-in-1 laptop in the world.
Featuring a slim profile with a thickness of just 16mm, the new laptop also comes with a next-generation InfinityEdge display that offers 4K resolution and covers 100% Adobe RGB color spectrum. Just like the equally new XPS 13, the XPS 15 2-in-1 also depends on GORE Thermal Insulation to keep its temperature down
Aside from that, the XPS 15 2-in-1 is also equipped with what Dell referred to as “maglev keyboard design” that apparently allows the laptop to deliver the same feel and travel of a standard keyboard despite having thinner design. It also able to support the optional Dell Premium Active Pen which can be magnetically attached to the laptop and provides up to 4096 pressure sensitivity as well as tilt functionality.
In terms of availability, the new XPS 15 2-in-1 is scheduled for release in April 2018 at a starting price of USD 1299.99 (about RM 5215). We’ll keep you posted once Dell has more information regarding the laptop’s arrival in Malaysia.
