Update (17/1/2018): It appears the Xiaomi Redmi 5A will be available for purchase at RM339 every Wednesday for the whole month of January. The article has been updated to reflect this.
The Xiaomi Redmi 5A was launched in Malaysia just last month in conjunction with the grand opening of the Authorised Mi Store in IOI City Mall. Retailing at only RM399 at launch, the budget-friendly device is even more affordable today: it’s now going for just RM339.
This promotion is a part of Lazada’s Flash Sale, and it valid every Wednesday this whole month. Two colours of the Redmi 5A are discounted: the Grey and Gold models. Unfortunately, the Rose Gold model is not in stock.
In terms of specifications, the Redmi 5A’s hardware are decidedly on the lower-end side of things. After all, it’s meant to be an affordable smartphone. It comes with a 5-inch 720p IPS display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 processor paired with 2GB of RAM, 16GB of expandable storage, and a 3,000mAh battery.
Rounding out the Redmi 5A’s specifications are a 13MP rear camera with phase detection autofocus, a 5MP front-facing shooter, and Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box.
The Xiaomi Redmi 5A was already a very affordable smartphone at RM399, and now that it received further price cut by Lazada itself, it’s really quite a good buy for those who are on a budget. You can purchase the Redmi 5A for RM339 here.
