Oppo is said to be bringing back its discontinued Find smartphone series in 2018. Details are light, but it’s said that an updated version of the VOOC fast charging system will be at the centre of the revival.
The current VOOC charging can charge an Oppo device from 0 to 75% in about 30 minutes, while updated Super VOOC promises a 45% charge from flat in just 5 minutes. Oppo has already released a teaser image for the new technology, but it really doesn’t tell us much other than something is happening at Mobile World Congress later this year.
The Find series from Oppo was the company’s flagship brand, designed to compete at the highest level. Since then, there has been a focus on mid-range devices catering to a more budget minded crowd. Returning to flagship phones could be a sign that the strategy has paid off tremendously; and that you don’t really need to go head-to-head with Apple and Samsung to remain relevant.
