PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds was out of early access only a couple of weeks ago with the release of the 1.0 update. More likely than not, the fact that Battlegrounds is no longer an early access game has garnered it quite a number of players too – as many as three million of them.
With three million concurrent players – 3,106,358 players, to be specific – Battlegrounds is officially the most played game on Steam by a huge margin. The title was previously held by Dota 2 with about 1.3 million players, which was also broken by Battlegrounds back in September 2017.

Considering the rapid growth of Battlegrounds, we imagine the game will attract even more players in the future. But there is also a rather concerning issue with so many players in the game: cheaters.
BattlEye, Battlegrounds’ anti-cheat service, confirmed that 1.5 million players have been banned in the game. While we haven’t spotted any obvious cheaters in our games, we reckon the same can’t be said for everyone.
Update on the number of PUBG bans: 1,500,000.

Cheating aside, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds still isn’t a perfect game – players are still reporting intermittent lag and rubber banding issues. Hopefully, these issues will be addressed in the near future, especially with the growing number of players.
