It has been more than 6 months since Huawei introduced its MateBook laptop series which includes the MateBook D. Hence, it is not surprising that the company has decided to reveal the updated version of the laptop for 2018.
While it might not be as light and slim as the MateBook X, the MateBook D still features a rather sleek design with the help of its 15.6-inch IPS full HD display which has 83% screen-to-body ratio. With a thickness of 16.9mm and weights at around 1.9kg, the 2018 model can be obtained with either Intel Core i5-8250U or Intel Core i7-8550U processor with 8GB DDR4 RAM and NVIDIA GeForce MX150 2GB graphics as standard components for both processor options.
Storage-wise, the Core i5 model is available with 256GB solid state drive or a combination of 128GB solid state drive and 1TB hard drive. The Core i7 version on another hand is only available with 128GB SSD and 1TB HDD.
The MateBook D also comes with a 43.3Whr battery that helps provide up to 10 hours of battery life for the laptop. With a price tag that starts at CNY 5,188 (about RM 3,233), the new 2018 Huawei MateBook D can only be pre-ordered in China for the time being and there is no indication that it will be made available in other markets anytime soon.
