One of the most useful additions the OnePlus 5T received is the new Face Unlock feature, and in a future update, the slightly older OnePlus 5 is set to receive the convenient authentication method too.
This bit of news came directly from the co-founder of OnePlus, Carl Pei. Even though Pei did not specify exactly when the feature will be made available to the OnePlus 5, a confirmation is certainly good news.

It makes a lot of sense for the OnePlus 5 to receive the Face Unlock feature. After all, it shares many similarities with the OnePlus 5T, including similar 16MP front-facing cameras. Then again, the 5 doesn’t have the 5T’s sleeker-looking 18:9 display, and their dual-camera systems differ quite a bit too.
Nonetheless, the OnePlus 5 is a plenty capable smartphone. It features a 5.5-inch Full HD Optic AMOLED display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset paired with up to 8GB of RAM, 64 or 128GB of non-expandable storage, and a 3,300mAh battery.
