Samsung’s budget-conscious Galaxy J refresh has been leaked. The upcoming Samsung Galaxy J2 (2018) fills the bottom end of the price spectrum, generally aimed at developing countries.
The Samsung Galaxy J2 (2018) will feature a 5-inch SUPER AMOLED display with a 960 x 540 pixel resolution. It will not be the best screen in the market, but it will do. The phone design will be similar to last year’s phone, so expect plastic construction all around.
Powering the phone will be the Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 processor, paired with 1.5GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. Samsung also included a microSD slot for storage expansion.
Imaging is handled by the rear 8-megapixel camera and the 5-megapixel selfie shooter. Interestingly both cameras will have flash, so it may do reasonably well in low-light situations. Power is supplied by a 2,600mAh battery which could be removable, as per the J2 series designs so far.
Samsung will be using Android Nougat 7.1.1 our of the box with TouchWiz. Not sure if Samsung will include the J2 (2018) in their Oreo rollout plans. Pricing for the Samsung Galaxy J2 (2018) is expected to be somewhere around US$ 135 (RM 550) when it launches sometime next year.
