EVGA has announced its newest product in the form of a motherboard. Dubbed the X299 Dark, this motherboard is made specifically for PC enthusiasts and hardcore overclockers who want to push Intel’s Core-X processors (both Kaby Lake-X and Skylake-X CPUs are supported) to their absolute limits.
Before we get into that, it’s worth first taking a look at the design of the EVGA X299 Dark mainboard. The X299 Dark motherboard comes with an all black 12-layer PCB, which according to the company features plenty of gold plated areas to improve conductivity. In addition, this motherboard is also fitted with three cooling fans to keep the VRMs and other components cool.
Other specifications of the EVGA EVGA X299 Dark include eight SATA 6Gbps ports; three M.2 slots; four DDR4 RAM slots; eight USB 3.0 ports; four USB 2.0 ports; one each of USB Type-A and Type-C ports; four PCIe x16 slots; and a host of other components to make hardcore overclocking possible.
EVGA has also said that “although the X299 Dark does not feature RGB LED support, it politely reminds you that you can’t see pretty in the Dark. This board is engineered for the ultra-enthusiast.” Knowing this, it wouldn’t be surprising to know that this motherboard comes with a price tag of US$500 (about RM2,038). Unfortunately, even if you have that kind of money, you’ll still have to be an “Elite Member” to be eligible to purchase this motherboard.
