In November 2016, Sharp Mobile have launched two of its smartphones in Malaysia but just few months down the road, the brand suddenly went incognito without any warning. However, we have noticed that the effort to establish the brand in Malaysia might have been revived based on recent activities on its Facebook page.
Since 4 December, the Sharp Mobile Malaysia’s Facebook page somehow comes alive once again after no contents were posted on the page for almost 11 months. Interestingly, all the recent updates point to a single device: the Sharp Aquos S2 smartphone.
Launched in China and Taiwan few months ago, the Aquos S2 features a bezel-less design which is the signature trait of Sharp Aquos phone line-up. That being said, there is also a tiny notch on the middle top part of the phone’s 5.5-inch full HD (2040 x 1080) 17:9 display which houses its 8MP f/2.0 selfie camera.
The Aquos S2 also comes with dual rear cameras that feature 12MP and 8MP sensors alongside a 3020mAh battery. With a thickness of 7.9mm, the memory and storage options on the 140 grams phone depend on users’ choice of processor.
For the model with Qualcomm Snapdragon 630, it comes with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage while the 6GB RAM and 128GB internal option is available with Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 variant. In China, these variants are priced at CNY 2,499 (about RM 1,542) and CNY 3,499 (about RM 2,159) respectively.
Aside from the recent postings on Sharp Mobile Malaysia’s Facebook page, we couldn’t find any other leads that are able to provide further information regarding Aquos S2 release in Malaysia. We’ll continue digging for more then, so stay tuned.
