Apple’s latest iOS 11.2.1 and tvOS 11.2.1 updates are now available for download. The updates address an issue that could disable remote access to shared users of the Home app.
To update, head on over to the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad, tap on General and select Software Update. As for Apple TV users, go to Settings and under System, select Software Update.
Last week, 9to5Mac reported a vulnerability in iOS HomeKit, which allowed for unauthorised control of HomeKit-connected accessories such as smart locks and smart lights. The news outlet reported that the issue was not from smart home products individually, but targets Apple’s HomeKit framework that connects products from various companies.
Apple quickly addressed the issue by rolling out an update on its server side, however, it disabled remote access to share users. The latest iOS and tvOS updates today will fix the issues.
Both iOS 11.2.1 and tvOS 11.2.1 should be available via an over the air update right now, so head on to the settings app to update your devices.
