Maybank today has rolled out an update for its Maybank2U app which provides it with a brand-new feature: the Maybank QRPay. It is a rather interesting decision by the bank since the early information that we received from our industry sources stated the feature will only be made available next month.
Nevertheless, this doesn’t mean the new feature is ready for public usage though. As indicated by the change log for both Android and iOS version of the app, Maybank QRPay is currently on trial at an undisclosed location. However, the log also stated that the official launch will take place soon.
Located on a dedicated section of the app, the feature is separated from other transactions that can be done through Maybank2U. To set it up, all users need to do is choose their preferred Maybank account to be utilized with Maybank QRPay as well as its payment limit.
The QRPay section of the app also features promo listings that are separated into several categories. Users can choose to save these promos directly into the app and there’s also a search function into the QRPay where users can use to find other promos as well as located outlets that support the feature.
While the function still seems rather rudimentary at the moment, it shows that Maybank is committed to support the QR-based payment option which likely to become a new norm in Malaysia very soon.
