It has come to our attention that a new device from Xiaomi has passed SIRIM’s certification process earlier this week. Listed as MEG7, the new device might be the upcoming Redmi 5 Plus which will be launched in China next week.
This is based on the previous information that a Xiaomi device with similar model has received approval from Taiwanese certification body, NCC. As you might have heard from various online leaks, the Redmi 5 Plus will feature 5.9-inch 18:9 FHD+ display and powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor.
Other than that, the phone might be carrying up to 4GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage. At the same time, the Redmi 5 Plus is expected to feature 12MP main camera and 5MP front camera as well as 4000mAh battery.
This is indeed an interesting development for the phone since by having it going through SIRIM certification, Xiaomi might have the intention to release Redmi 5 Plus into our market. However, this doesn’t mean that consumers in Malaysia will be able to see the phone at store immediately though. So, stay tuned.
