Honor has launched its newest model, the Honor V10 in Beijing. The flagship-level smartphone shares similarities to its Huawei cousin, but at a lower price bracket.
The V10 features the now common 18:9 aspect-ratio edge-to-edge screen, dubbed FullView by honor/Huawei. The display panel is a 5.99-inch LCD with a 1,080 x 2,160 resolution (Full HD+). However Honor can’t boast a bezel-less display with the V10 as it managed to put the fingerprint sensor on the front of the device, rather on the rear.
Underneath the metal construction is the HiSilicon Kirin 970 eight-core processor, the same processor found in the Huawei Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro. RAM and storage options comes in either 4GB / 64GB or 6GB / 128GB variants. Of course the phone can accept more through microSDs for up to 256GB additional storage.
A feature missing on the Honor V10 is water- and dust-resistance, as the company did not mention it during their launch.
No Leica branding here, but the dual camera is present on the V10. It consists of a 16 megapixel main sensor paired to a 20 megapixel monochrome sensor (both f/1.8 lenses). Unfortunately Honor did not include any Optical Image Stablization (OIS) in the V10. On the plus side, Huawei’s AI technology is included, such as Real-Time Scene and Object Recognition.
The selfie 13 megapixel f/2.0 camera on the front is also used by the AI technology for facial security. Honor reps said that the phone is intelligent enough to notice if a guest is using the phone, and will obscure all calls and incoming notifications from prying eyes.
The Honor V10 comes with Android 8.0 out of the box, loaded with EMUI 8.0 over the top. Power wise the phone runs from a 3,750mAh battery and comes with fast charging support. Honor promises a zero to 50% charge in half an hour. Lastly, the phone comes with both USB Type-C connector and a 3.5mm audio jack for your headphones.
The phone will be on sale in China from December 5 (which is the global launch event) from 2,699 Yuan (RM 1,677) for the base model all the way to 3,499 Yuan (RM 2,175) for the largest storage option.
